Capricorn’s New Moon and Solar Eclipse ~ Grounding into Love

2019 comes to a close with a celestial invitation to begin again.

Aspects of this month’s New Moon and Solar Eclipse on December 25, 2019 at 10:13 pm MST, highlight the themes that we’ve been working on for some time. Transpiring at four degrees Capricorn, the Moon and Sun join the South Node at 8 degrees Capricorn and oppose the North Node in Cancer, activating the way we care for ourselves and each other. Engaging in common goals with compassion and cooperation takes us to the higher levels of growth, expansion, and wisdom that Jupiter in Capricorn promises.

An earthy trine to Uranus in Taurus reminds us that what really matters needs to be at the heart of our goals for the personal and collective win. To that end, connecting to the bounty and beauty of our shared home offers much-needed support. In these rapidly changing and challenging times, grounding the Earth’s energy into our hearts and planting intentions to nourish what we love serves us all now.

With blessings of love, always.

Winter Solstice 2019 ~ Welcoming the Light and Wisdom of Capricorn!

Warm greetings to all those that follow and shine the light of the cosmos!

The arrival of Winter Solstice and the wisdom of the Sun in Capricorn blesses us at 9:19 pm MST on December 21, 2019. The Sun joins an impressive array of planets and points in Capricorn – Jupiter, the South Lunar Node, Ceres, Saturn, and Pluto. Capricorn symbolizes the limits of our current definition of humanity and this potent celestial lineup of personal and transpersonal luminaries asks us to go beyond them.

We’re being called to expand our current understanding of our role in creating our world, and to examine our willingness and capacity to become instruments of transformation.

The Moon will be at 8 degrees of Scorpio as the Solstice heralds the return of the light, and it will form an exact trine to the North Lunar Node at 8 degrees Cancer. This aspect highlights the importance of  nurturing ourselves and each other as we change harmful ways of thinking and living on our planet.

An opposition from the Moon in Scorpio to Uranus in Taurus brings home the message to continue to cultivate what matters in our hearts and souls. Power and love emerge so that we can engage in dialogue and implement changes that take us to new places of discovery, vulnerability, and authenticity.

What I love about following the evolving journey of the cosmos is the profound sense of connection that I feel. To me, astrology reveals our abiding connection to each other and to a more expanded potentiality that we collectively agreed to experience from a higher place of consciousness. This place feels timeless – where the past, present, and future merge into an infinite field of possibility.

There is still much work to do, yes. And it’s true that the time to do it is upon us. Yet, with each chart that I study, I see that we’re making strides. We’re healing what is old and outworn, and we’re becoming more whole and perfect and wise in the process. I feel blessed to see a future brimming with light and possibility and it is with this spirit that I welcome the sunrise on Winter Solstice.

As I drum up the Sun with others of like hearts, minds, and spirits on this Solstice morning, waves of loving energy ripple across the planet and warm the hearts of our collective soul. The heartbeats of our drums and rattles reverberate through time and space and alert our ancestors and those to come that we’re present and willing to live, to learn, and to love on our collective journey of expansion.

With great blessings and love. Always, love.

Gemini’s Full Moon ~ Starting the conversation

This month’s Full Moon in Gemini will call to us at 10:12 pm MST on December 11, 2019.

Ever curious, Gemini represents the perpetual student while Sagittarius symbolizes the teacher. This Full Moon may well bring answers to our questions if we are open-minded and courageous enough to ask them.

A T-square from the Full Moon in Gemini and the Sun in Sagittarius to Neptune in Pisces underscores the need for being open and willing to trust the guidance that we receive. It also encourages surrendering control and/or attachment to a certain outcome.

Gemini’s Full Moon also makes three inconjunctions to Venus, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn that need our attention. Unlike conjunctions where planets or luminaries partner with each other for mutual purposes, inconjunctions show planetary energies that don’t work together.

Imagine different relatives at the family table who won’t talk to each other – sometimes they need a guiding force to encourage amicable interaction. With some focus and willingness on our parts, this Full Moon in Gemini could spark the critical conversation we’ve been waiting for.

Capricorn has to do with maturity, wisdom, and responsibility. It represents the outer limits of our current evolutionary understanding. The Saturn, Venus, and Pluto stellium in Capricorn highlights boundaries and rights, values and love, personal and creative power respectively. Thanks to Capricorn, we are being shown our limits in each of these areas.

Another stellium in Capricorn (Jupiter, the South Lunar Node, and Ceres) underscores the importance of making the effort to show up and ask the tough questions.

  • What are the limits upon which our lives are built?
  • Are we content to continue to live within these boundaries? Or, is there more waiting for us?
  • What is possible when we suspend limiting, conditioned beliefs?
  • Who are we when we expand our beliefs about our power to co-create ourselves and what we experience?
  • What if we acknowledged doubt, regret, and/or blame about choices we’ve made on the way here and gave them a place at the table?
  • What if we agreed that we all bring something to our collective experience and decided that we wanted to contribute something more loving?

Here’s to continuing the conversation and stretching our limits of possibility…under the light of the Full Moon.

In 10 short days, on December 21, 2019, Winter Solstice will expand the lineup of Capricorn light in our skies and lives, and on December 25, 2019, the Capricorn New Moon and Solar Eclipse offer another fresh start. May we all take our places at the table and embrace the way forward with our collective heart.

With blessings, always,

p.s. December’s Advent Calendar of Inspiration from Nature and Souls that have blessed our Earth with their light continues to grow below this post. I hope that you enjoy breathing in the beauty that surrounds us on this globe that we are honored to call home.

An Advent Calendar of Inspiration ~

A few years ago, I was inspired to recreate a family tradition of opening a window on each day in December leading up to the Christmas holiday. On my lifelong spiritual journey, I’ve broadened my definition of holiday to see what is holy in each day, in each religion, and even, on my better days, in each moment.

Thankfully, I’m forever blessed with moments of earth, sky, and wild beings that grace my days and nights and remind me of why I came here now.

It is in this spirit that I offer this year’s Advent Calendar of inspiration from Nature and Souls far wiser and more daring than me, whose words and light continue to illuminate the way forward.

With abundant appreciation and blessings for all relations. Always love.

Mercury’s journey of Love ~

Mercury goes direct today, November 20, 2019, at 12:12 pm MDT. It will turn at 11 degrees Scorpio, and its shadow period – the zodiacal journey that it traversed while retrograde – will end on December 6, 2019.

During Mercury’s recent transit of the Sun on 11/11/19, I was steeped in the sacred lands
of Sedona where time bends into the realm of infinite possibility. Where shrubs and trees
become shifting figures of ancient guardians with a peripheral glance. Where you can
reverently step into the center of twisted crone junipers and receive the enduring love of our Earth Mother. Where the almost full Moon takes your breath away as it ends its journey in Aries and claims the eastern sky even as the Sun sleeps in the west after painting the land with love.

Ceremonial gatherings at dawn always stir my soul across the expanse of time and space, and this one enriched my journey well beyond my expectations.

As I ascended the red Earth up to the place where we would gather in meditation, my heart’s prayer was that the message from Mercury’s transmission would alight on and heal our collective heart. I prayed that it would seep into the hard places on our planet and begin to soothe them; that it would allow our wounds to connect us so that we could lift each other up; that it would shine its soft golden light on the shadowy places in our consciousness that long to be seen and set free.

Crows carried our energy from the western rocks behind us into the path of light as prayer flags caught our intentions in a flash of color and our fears rose and fell on the breeze.

As the Sun kissed the eastern ridge and our circle with its light, the Messenger planet spun this across the sky and into our hearts: Love.

I’m ever grateful that  we have the capacity to love, always. It is the true agent of transformation. It is our collective why and how, and the time to embody it is now.

Always love.

Opening to the Gifts of Scorpio’s New Moon Cycle and Retrograde Mercury’s Blessings

Scorpio, the sign of the zodiac that demands integrity and authenticity, is upon us. It’s the sign of the impeccable detective that maneuvers comfortably in the dark corners of our psyches.
It senses BS from afar and will call it out – every time.

Dwelling in the autumnal season of transition, Scorpio serves the greater purpose of rebirth and exists to transmute that which is not aligned with our collective growth.

This year, Pluto-ruled Scorpio initiates a potent New Moon cycle on Sunday night, October 27th, 2019, at 9:38 p.m. MDT at 4 degrees, where it will form an exact opposition to retrograde Uranus in Venus-ruled Taurus.

The polarity of power (Pluto/Scorpio) and love (Venus/Taurus) abides here, and our purpose is simply to honor and balance both of these qualities. As one born with Mercury and other key luminaries in Scorpio, the simple but profound question that shows up for me now is this:

Can we allow love to transform us?

Scorpio’s powerful lunar cycle also brings abundant opportunities from Mercury, the Messenger planet, via two significant events.

The first gift is Mercury’s Retrograde (Rx) cycle that will begin on October 31st, Samhain/Halloween, and end on November 20, 2019. Although, the shadow period of this retrograde cycle began on October 12th, 2019 and will remain in play until December 8th.

While many people may cringe at the mention of retrograde Mercury and/or blame the Messenger planet for challenges they encounter, others (including myself) appreciate the wisdom of this cosmic event that helps us pause, get present, and reconsider all things having to do with communication. The areas of our lives where we’re asked to pay careful attention to our thoughts, intentions, beliefs, words, and actions vary, depending on the sign that Mercury journeys through during its retrograde period, and where and how that energy shows up in our natal chart.

In general, though, we can all benefit from knowing more about each Mercury retrograde cycle. In Scorpio, retrograde Mercury takes us deeper into what matters. Our integrity radar is on high alert and superficiality, dishonesty, and inauthenticity are scrutinized, and often brought out from the shadows into the light. Things will go smoother for everyone if we do our inner work, as challenging as that may be right now. It’s a perfect time to get to the heart of things – to be courageous enough to look within and see if the lives we’re living reflect what we find in our hearts.

The second blessing of this Scorpio New Moon cycle is Mercury’s transit of the Sun on 11/11/19. When any planet aspects the Sun, it amplifies the energy signature of that planet. When a planet transits the Sun, as Mercury will do, the energy signature of the transiting planet infuses the life force that the Sun beams to us.

Mercury transits the Sun on average only a little more than a dozen times each century – unlike Venus, which transits the Sun on average only twice during the same period.

Our last Venus transit occurred in June of 2012, and from an astrological perspective, it blessed the Earth with a powerful infusion of Divine Feminine Love bathed in the brilliance of Gemini, the perpetual student and messenger that Mercury rules in the zodiac.

Our last Mercury transit was in May of 2016 and our next one will occur in November of 2032.

Composite image of Mercury transiting across the sun on 9 May, 2016, as seen by HMI on NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. Credit: NASA/SDO

The approaching Mercury transit of the Sun on 11/11/19 will occur while Mercury is retrograde and will begin its journey at 19 degrees Scorpio.

The Sabian symbol for 19 degrees Scorpio is: A parrot repeats a conversation he has overheard. According to Dane Rudhyar in his book, An Astrological Mandala, this zodiacal degree has to do with the the faith and capacity to transmit wisdom beyond one’s normal level of understandingHe writes, “The mind that has learned to be silent and attentive can become attuned to the rhythm of utterances which he may not comprehend intellectually, yet which may truly manifest superhuman realizations. Discrimination is needed to balance the overeagerness of faith.”

By the ever present grace of Spirit, Mercury’s celestial journey across the morning Sun will find me with fellow astrology students and teachers on a rise of sacred red earth in Sedona. We’ll sit in a circle of love, quiet our minds, ground our bodies, and open our hearts and souls toward the East, the place of New Beginnings and Possibilities, and we’ll see what the light and shadows bring forth.

The following day, November 12, 2019, the Moon will wax full at 19 degrees Taurus as it reflects the light of the Sun at 19 degrees Scorpio. The Sabian symbol for 19 degrees Taurus is: A new continent is rising out of an ocean. Rudhyar writes, “When the mind has been emptied and light has been called upon to purify the consciousness freed from its attachment and contaminations, a new release of life can emerge out of the infinite Ocean of potentiality, the Virgin SPACE. What will it be used for?”

It is my heart’s desire that Scorpio’s gifts are discovered and embraced by each of us, so that we may rise into the realm of love and power…together.

Blessings and Love, always Love, for all relations ~

Connecting with October’s Full Moon in Aries – and the Best of Ourselves ~

When any of the four cardinal signs of the zodiac (Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn) are activated, we’re shown issues around our identity and expression. Tomorrow’s Full Moon at 20 degrees Aries, at 3:08 pm MDT, amplifies this area for us as it highlights all four of the cardinal signs with a Grand Cross or Square.

The Full Moon in Aries opposes the Sun in Libra and they square the North Lunar Node in Cancer, and Saturn, Pluto, and the South Lunar Node in Capricorn.

Simply put, cardinal energies require and call for expression, and tomorrow’s celestial arrangement implores us to balance all four points of this Grand Cross.

  • Aries wants us to express our selves.
  • Libra wants us to express balance and harmony in our relationships with others.
  • Cancer wants us to express our emotional needs – while feeling secure enough to do so.
  • Capricorn wants us to express our personal responsibility and wisdom.

With the Sun in Venus-ruled Libra and the Full Moon in Mars-ruled Aries, balancing all four of these areas in our lives is the key to discovering and embodying peace and harmony. Libra reminds us that really are in this life experience together, despite situations or encounters that may make us lean toward judgment, isolation, and separation.

The spruce that is surrounded by aspens is not alone.
In fact, the entire forest is stronger for their connection.

At its core, astrology is about polarities and relationships. Having the courage to make the journey to the center point of any polarities or aspects at play allows us to embrace the best of each celestial body and the zodiac sign it is traveling through at the time.

If the best of our strong, self-confident, and courageous Aries self could meet our peaceful, balanced, and cooperative Libra self, we’d realize that we can be both empowered and harmonious. And, if our infantile, sensitive, and emotional Cancer self could meet our older, wiser, and responsible Capricorn self, we’d see that we’re both secure and unstoppable.

If we stay too long in any one expression of these signs, we’ll likely notice and feel mounting tension – and we’ll probably experience recurring patterns of behavior that reinforce the imbalance.

I believe this is why the celestial bodies form patterns like the one that tomorrow’s Full Moon brings…so that we are encouraged to wake up and breakthrough habitual ruts. So that we can move to the center point of all of the axis points of our lives, and know the peace that abides there.

  • Aries/Libra = I am/We are
  • Cancer/Capricorn = I Feel/I Use
  • Taurus/Scorpio = I Have/I Desire
  • Leo/Aquarius = I Will/I Know
  • Gemini/Sagittarius = I Think/I See
  • Virgo/Pisces = I Serve/I Believe

Most of us get that Full Moons tend to intensify things…emotions heighten, and people can express less than their best selves. The Full Moon on October 13, 2019 is no exception.

One tool to help us move to the safe and balanced place on the Aries/Libra and Cancer/Capricorn axis is to create space in our lives. Then, we can consider the quality
of that space.

~ What if we created space with our breath and infused it with the quality of love?

~ What if we created space with our thoughts and infused it with the quality of choice?

~ What if we created space with our presence and infused it with the qualities of joy and
gratitude?

Another gift of this Full Moon is that it forms a flowing fiery trine to Jupiter in Sagittarius while the Sun in Libra forms a cooperative sextile to Jupiter. Tapping into creativity that lifts our perceptions to higher ground is supported by this celestial arrangement. Embracing the expansive light-heartedness of these energies will lighten any intensity that bogs us down.

Here’s to shining the Full Moon’s light on the center-point of our personal and collective Grand Cross and radiating it with celestial love and conviction – and having FUN in the process!
With great love and blessings, for all relations ~

Autumnal Equinox 2019 ~ Loving Self, Loving Others

Here’s to celebrating the beauty and balance of Libra’s realm as we welcome Autumnal Equinox in the west! It arrives at 1:50 am MDT on September 23, 2019.

While we dream tonight, the growing season of summer begins to wind down and the moments of sunlight in our days lessen. Chilly mornings and evenings help us turn toward what warms us.

Years ago, I came across a spiritual teaching that profoundly impacted my life. It suggested that gazing upon the sunrise and sunset daily would help us to live up to our potential and maximize our time on Earth. These two times of the day have always felt sacred to me, one full of possibility and the other full of gratitude. Respectively, they represent the axis of Aries (self) and Libra (others).

Venus-ruled Libra owns the time of day when the Sun comes to rest; when we pause and reflect on the day and give gratitude for its gifts. Contemplation, consideration, cooperation, collaboration, and harmony come naturally to Libra.

It’s an air sign, and when I’m standing in the awe of any given sunset, I’m acutely aware of the quality and power of the air around me – thoughts fall away without effort on my part and time ceases as the energy of Libra infuses my soul.

The Autumnal Equinox Sun forms a loose conjunction to Mars in Virgo on one end, and Venus in Libra on the other, lifting the arrival of the season with perfection and love. Venus joins Mercury in Libra, so the potential exists to lift up our consciousness, too. Together, Venus and Mercury square the Moon and the North Node in Cancer on one end and Saturn and the South Node in Capricorn on the other, an alignment that encourages radical self-care and nurturing. As above, so below: balance prevails as the way to peace.

May we pause often enough over these coming days of Autumn to find the center point between self and other. May we journey inward enough so that we can brave going outward.  May we gather close to what warms our hearts, and may we know peace.

Like most things, beauty is best when shared, so in the spirit of Libra’s love, enjoy these visions of her magical moments, and may each day’s end fill your heart with gratitude, and your soul with hope for a brighter dawn, for all relations.

Blessings, always,
Christina ~

September’s Full Moon in Pisces & the Power of Compassion

September’s Full Moon in Pisces illuminates the night sky and infuses our dreams on Friday the 13th, at 10:33 pm MDT, but many of us are already feeling her powerful pull.

When she peaks at 21 degrees of Pisces, she’ll shine just 4 degrees away from Neptune – the compassionate and powerful ruler of Pisces – and together they’ll oppose the Sun, Mars, Venus, and Mercury in Virgo.

The opposition between Neptune and Mars will be exact at 17 degrees, increasing the intensity, so pausing and centering ourselves with deep breaths is a perfect coping skill to cultivate now. Meanwhile, both Venus and Mercury will be conjunct at the final degree of Virgo, encouraging us to clean up any unfinished business in our hearts and minds before moving into the more peaceful realm of Libra.

September’s Full Moon also forms a cooperative sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, while the Sun in Virgo creates a trine of earthy support to it. And, the North Node in Cancer comes into play with a watery, emotional trine to the Moon.

Meanwhile, the opposing line of energy from the Full Moon/Neptune in Pisces and Sun/Mars in Virgo creates a T-square to Jupiter in Sagittarius – adding some fire into the mix as well as a tendency to overdo things, or overextend ourselves.

No wonder we’re feeling this one on so many levels!

“What does this mean?” is probably the question that astrologers hear more often than any other, and I hear it in my head now. Even though what this means for each of us varies depending on how these celestial bodies line up in our personal birth charts, there are some general patterns in play that deserve our attention.

First, Full Moons help us celebrate our successes! Our efforts culminate and we can fully express and honor ourselves and each other. Soon enough, we can turn toward releasing what is ready to go as the cycle of the Moon continues to flow. For this moment in time, though, the spotlight shines on living like we mean it, so the real question is: Are we?
Are we shifting enough to and see ourselves – and each other – as whole, perfect beings?

Any Full Moon in Pisces helps us to feel everything deeper and fuller and the way this one lines up with other potent planets heightens things even more. Fortunately, just knowing that emotions are elevated can help us tone down any potential flare-ups, reactive outbursts, or bouts of self-deprecation and judgment.

While we may be tempted to escape from and/or overreact to dramas around us – or even initiate them – the wiser use of these energies is to stay grounded in our centers and express ourselves with compassion.

Staying close to the grace of forgiveness and dissolution will be helpful, too.

The Piscean sphere of influence is all about unity and if we separate ourselves from the higher truth of that, well…we’ll simply add more fuel to the already raging fires in our world. Embodying the healing potential of this period will have the opposite effect. To that end, the Full Moon’s trine to the North Node in Cancer reminds us to pay special attention to our level of self-care.

How we’re nurturing ourselves (or neglecting to do so) during these tumultuous
times ripples outward and affects the whole of humanity.

We’re still in the midst of turning over some heavy patterns from the past that tend to hold our collective consciousness down, and we’ve been here for some time. This Moon’s sextile to Pluto helps us cooperate with each other to truly transform tired and old worn-out ways of living, while the Sun’s earthy trine to Pluto empowers us to make our changes tangible.

In fact, all of the aspects this Moon touches support our growth ~ it’s simply up to us to respond in kind and embody it.

At this very moment, the radiant and almost Full Moon rises behind me in the eastern sky as the western one blushes with rose and peach sweetness before me. The Earth’s mountains carve the sky with her peaks and valleys as dragonflies give way to bats.
Deep and wide gratitude ripples from my heart
in an endless circle of love
and all is well
~

With great blessings, always,
~ Christina

Virgo’s New Moon Cycle ~ Embodying the Essential Self

All of us have the potential to be nourished by the Moon’s journey into Virgo, which occurs on August 30th, 2019, in the wee hours just before dawn at 4:37 am MDT, when some of us will
still be dreaming in the land of shadows.

Virgo’s Healing Earthy New Moon reminds me of why I garden and how it feeds my soul.

~ Feeling the damp soil in my fingers and on my cheek as I brush my hair away in the wind.

~ Tuning into the harmony of pollinators – from the buzzing bees to the whirring hummingbirds dashing from one source of life to another.

~ Delighting in the simplicity of chickadees and juncos bathing in the fountain, or the joyful surprise of Anna’s hummingbirds showering in the mist from the garden hose.

~ Finding peace in the vigilant silence of the baby rabbit nibbling on clover, trusting me completely to continue planting Sweet Williams by her side.

~ Appreciating the focused industry of ground squirrels and chipmunks gathering what they need for the coming winter.

~ Watching in awe as arachnids move about Her skin – from great grey wolf spiders camoflauged in the dirt to ancient orb weavers creating suspended works of art in the air.

~ Inhaling the manna of petrichor – the earthy aroma produced when rain falls on dry soil.
How perfect that the word petrichor is constructed from the Greek language –  petra meaning “stone”, and īchōr meaning “the fluid that flows in the veins of the Gods in Greek mythology.”
Of course, I would add that it flows in the veins of Goddesses, too.

Virgo is all about the Feminine Earth Goddess and
Her gardens of Life and Love with which she blesses us.

If we’re alert and open enough to her healing energy now, we’ll discover that we feel a bit more present – a bit more grounded – and a bit more nourished than we were just moments ago.

Our perfect selves yearn for our purest intentions to be expressed during this auspicious time. The clearer and more committed we are to what matters now, the easier our efforts will be in the month ahead. Virgo loves action, effort, order, and routine – and it thrives on efficiency.

This moon cycle invites us to make what we’re working on count, and its Earthy trine to Uranus in Taurus and Saturn in Capricorn supports our efforts to that end.

This Lunar Goddess also aligns with both Mars and Venus in Virgo, blessing us with the perfect balance and wholeness of masculine and feminine energies. It longs for us to claim what we desire and what we value, and it encourages us to clarify what we’re willing to give and what we’re willing to receive.

We are to call forth, ground into, and embody that which is natural and essential ~ that which is whole, unified, and perfect ~ that which is universal and right here in front of us, always: our genuine and magnificent selves.

So it is and so it shall be. Always, healing. Always, love. Always, blessings.

For all relations ~
Christina
