Full Moon in Cancer ~ Honoring light and shadow as 2020 comes to a close

As the Moon waxes full in Cancer tonight and peaks at 8:28 pm MST, I’m reminded of – and awed by – how much she affects and blesses us.
Her presence and power are constant, even as she changes form. Each of her phases shapes us in different ways, but she is always there, even when invisible.

A shape shifter of souls, she takes us on journeys across time and space. For this final full moon in Cancer during the year of 2020, I am called to honor her light, her shadow and her darkness, along with ours.

In her balsamic phase, when she’s dark and invisible, we dive deep into ourselves and our desires. Ideas percolate and gestate here, stirred by our attention.

With her seam of light, we are born anew, and her thin waxing crescent of potential awaits our impulses and intentions.
As she grows into her first quarter or half moon, possibilities increase and if we are awake enough to notice and wise enough to trust, opportunities begin to coalesce around us.
Half moons bring a sense of clarity and balance – tipping points where we can go this way or that, choose one path or another. It’s up to us to build our dreams.Momentum increases as she moves from her half moon phase into her waxing gibbous phase and the choices we’ve made are supported, regardless of our opinions, judgments, wishes or hopes.

When she waxes full, her light spills upon our path and beyond it – illuminating what is calling for realization and celebration while supporting our way forward.
In her waning gibbous phase, we begin to release what is not yet born and needs more time. Her third quarter phase is another tipping point, but this one turns us toward what needs to be trimmed and/or cut away for the next cycle of growth.

Her waning crescent helps us to surrender further and invites us to trust ourselves and the process of creation all over again.
With infinite gratitude, I recall all of the times she carried me across the expanse of night, helped me maneuver the terrain of what is felt but not seen, and emerge into the light of day.

The sense of what was, is, and will be possible fills me as I recall her surrendering in the western sky at dawn while the Sun, her partner in this dance of light and shadow and soul, claimed the day with me.

As her fullness shines upon us tonight and highlights the closure of this tumultuous year of contraction, growth and expansion, I bow to her demonstration of constancy in the midst of transformation and pray that we emulate her shape shifting brilliance for the highest good of all relations and sentient beings.

With infinite blessings of light and shadow and everything in-between,

Gemini’s Lunar Eclipse ~ Embracing and healing our collective story with love

As the year draws toward its close and I pour over the lunar cycles and eclipses left before the days grow lighter on the Winter Solstice, I’m struck by these questions:

~ What if the stories of our collective past simply yearn to be acknowledged?

~ What if the burdens of lineage to which we’re tied desire nothing more than to venture out of the shadows into the healing light of our hearts?

~ How refreshing and profound would it be if we met current triggers of past traumas with a welcoming sense of gratitude instead of dread?

Maybe the season of giving follows the season of gratitude in a way that aligns perfectly with the higher truth of both states of being.

When we are grateful, we are generous.
When we are generous, we are grateful.
In both states of being, we are for giving, and we are blessed.

What if we embraced all of the personal and collective pain that is emerging now with the spirit of gratitude, generosity, and forgiveness?

Tonight’s Lunar Eclipse at November 30, 2020 at 2:43 am MST, helps us clear the way forward by encouraging us to let go of what is dying. With the Moon at the eighth degree of Gemini and the Sun opposing it in Sagittarius, this eclipse asks us to speak of what is leaving in a way that honors its truth even as we bid it farewell. If we can do this with words wrapped in love and gratitude in our hearts, we can harness the limitless power of the spoken word and embrace the expansive optimism of Sagittarius.  In two short weeks, on December 14, 2020 at 9:15 am MST, we’ll have another opportunity to continue clearing the way forward during the Solar Eclipse at 23 degrees Sagittarius. We’ll be called once again to open our minds and hearts to the higher truths of humanity’s collective consciousness and own our part in creating it. As we acknowledge and release our pain now, we’ll be more prepared to co-create a place worthy of our presence.

Here’s to mining the collective treasures of our deeper work and creating a new world where we abide in love together. With peace and light, for all relations.

October’s Blue Taurean Moon ~ Illuminating the Power of Love ~

October’s end brings a Blue Moon on the morning of All Hallows’ Eve, at 8:49 am MDT. Her light is growing as I write this and her glow spills over my left shoulder. I spent the last Full Moon in Taurus in the sacred lands of Sedona, pictured below. As I recall the moment when the Moon claimed her place in the evening sky, my heart fills with a sense of hopefulness and possibility. I’m transported to the red Earth where our ancestors walked, danced, sang, prayed, and blessed the desert with tears of joy and grief. Halloween, or Samhain, is a time when the veil between worlds thins, when we honor those that have gone before us. Blue Moons, the second Full Moon of any given month, serve to thin the veil even more, giving us a rare opportunity to connect with the realm of Spirit on a deeper level than normal.

This Full Moon in Taurus, will be exactly conjunct Retrograde Uranus at eight degrees, while the Sun opposes them in Scorpio. Uranus is the planet of change and inspiration, usually sudden and beyond our realm of control. It’s transpersonal and invested in the growth of humanity. It implores us to consider what is good for the whole and motivates us to expand our personal Saturnian boundaries and limits.

In Taurus, Uranus aims to remodel our relationship to what matters to us. Practical values come to mind, but so do matters of the heart, for Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love.
Its retrograde position deepens this process of exploration and discovery.

If the lives we’re living aren’t aligned with our highest ideals, we’re likely to experience change. One of the key things to keep in mind when Uranus is activated is that while we cannot control circumstances and events outside of ourselves, we can definitely control our responses to them. When responsibility is understood as our ‘ability to respond’ it changes everything.

Opposite the Moon, the Sun in Scorpio brings us to consider power – both creative
and destructive. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the planet of transformation, whose power can be seen in nature during the changing seasons and in the cycles of life of all sentient beings on Earth. It carries the energy of water and forces what is circulating beneath the surface to show itself.

We can harness the power of opposing planets and luminaries by embodying the gifts of each one. Grounded to the Earth in the center of opposing forces, we are at our strongest and able to weather the changes that come our way.

This Full Moon in Taurus offers us the opportunity to stand in the center of love and power. It takes great courage to stand in love in the face of uncertainty. To know that love is the most powerful force on our planet, and to trust that when applied to any situation, it transforms and elevates the outcome.

As the Moon rises, falls, and waxes during the coming days and peaks on All Hallows’ Eve, I’m sending massive courage to all relations – past, present and future – to embody love
and power, for the highest good of all sentient beings. To our ancestors who illuminated paths upon Earth before us and continue to light the
way forward, I send infinite gratitude, blessings and love.

Always, Love.

Trusting the Flow of the Full Moon in Pisces ~

The first night of September 2020 gifts us with a Full Moon in Pisces at 11:22 pm MDT that forms a cooperative sextile to Uranus in Taurus. In this cosmic moment of magic, the feminine, mutable energies of watery Pisces and earthy Virgo create a harmonious current of hope to Uranus in feminine, fixed and earthy Taurus.

If we attune to this flow, we can soften the tension between opposing Mars in Aries and Saturn in Capricorn, and their cardinal square with Venus in Cancer and the asteroid Juno in Libra.

Squares in cardinal signs demand expression, while aspects in mutable signs are designed to cooperate and collaborate with each other.

Divine feminine energy is longing to be honored upon our planet. If we pause long enough and turn our open hearts toward what and whom we love, this Full Moon promises healing across time and space, and the conscious and unconscious levels of our collective creation.

This Moon’s energy invites us to pause…to ground…to feel our connection to the Earth as she spins through the cosmos. She beckons us to breathe into the flow of Love….to pause…to breathe out into the flow of Love. As we allow and trust her ebb and flow in each effortless moment, we feel the universal stream of love breathe us. With magical Full Moon blessings, and love.
Always love.

June 2020 ~ Pausing for Love

It’s June 4, 2020. I’m sitting outside with the setting sun in Gemini as the lark’s song coaxes the day to let go and rest. The Moon will rise tonight in her almost-full Sagittarian brilliance. Tomorrow, June 5th, 2020, brings a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse as she grows full in that truth-telling expansive sign.

If Gemini asks questions, Sagittarius is where answers dwell. It is the realm of expansion and growth, and few would argue that our country and our world are in grave need of both now.

Sorting through the rubble in cities across the United States, gentle kind souls are coming together to help us come clean and heal. Humans of all colors, in and out of uniforms, are kneeling in solidarity for a better, higher, and more expansive version of humanity. Countless people are sharing their truths, tears and hearts across the planet.

When I sit in this space of acknowledgement of and gratitude for all that is good in our world, my sense that we’re not out of the darkness yet softens and my hope for a brighter tomorrow – sooner rather than later – calls me home.

I’ve been going in and out of receptivity to it lately, so to be able to sit beside hope again as the day fades and the Moon rises soothes my soul. It feels as if a distant, yet primal memory is being revived.

Tomorrow’s Full Moon will shine her light across the globe from me during our afternoon, at 1:12 pm MDT, and her Penumbral Eclipse will peak at 1:25 pm MDT. The Sun will be at 15 degrees of Gemini next to Venus at 12 degrees Gemini. The Moon will be at 15 degrees of Sagittarius. The solar/lunar mutable opposition will form an exact T-square to Mars in Pisces. Less exact, but still important connections bring the energies of Ceres and Neptune in Pisces on either side of Mars into play.

T-squares, or any square aspects, in fact, can trip us up if we’re not paying attention. Eclipses always offer us a chance to clear the slate – to let go of what impedes our vitality and spirit. We’ll have not one, but two eclipses in June this year: tomorrow’s Penumbral Lunar one, and an Annular Solar Eclipse on the Summer Solstice at zero degrees Cancer, the sign of healing, nurturing and growth.

I’ve been taught that a grand square aspect can help the energy move or flow easier than a T-square aspect since there is a balancing point on any given side of the square. Without this balancing point, T-squares can be more rigid, and we can be caught off guard.

T-squares in mutable modalities (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) call for cooperation, flexibility and adaptability. With the warrior planet of Mars in the mix, and its square to Venus in Gemini, this one implores us to consider our thoughts, words, and actions before we form, speak and engage them.

According to older astrology texts, Mars in Pisces is said to be in its “fall” – a less than optimal placement as Mars is more aligned with the active, dynamic energy of Virgo that opposes Pisces. I prefer to think of this placement as an opportunity to surrender into a space that is bigger than ourselves.

What if we choose to to “fall” into compassion, forgiveness, divinity and unity?
These are the gifts that Piscean’s mastery offers.

For myself and many others born in the 1960’s, the mutable T-square created by the Lunar Eclipse that graces our skies tomorrow will be transformed into a grand mutable square or cross. The transit of Mars in Pisces will oppose our natal placement of Pluto in Virgo and offer a balancing point to help us shift the current state of our world.

Personally, my Plutonian placement is at exactly 15 degrees Virgo, marking this celestial event as more potent than most. Unconcerned with ego-driven expression, Pluto rules collective power. It holds the power to create and destroy life, to rebirth what seeks to be born. It is one of the three outer transpersonal planets, aligned with the greater evolution of humanity.
Those born under any given sign or expression of Pluto are bound by a shared vision and mission.

To that end, I’m being called to hold space for the deep level of transformation we need now, and I intend to spend the day in the sacred space of silence and meditation, lifting up what I know we collectively have the power to rebirth: LOVE.

It’s getting darker now. The lines of tangerine are thinning over the spine of the western horizon as cerulean expanses of sky shift into violet shadows. Bats swirl in and around the former paths of hummingbirds. The birds are quieting. A lone dog howls to my south. Another answers in the western distance as the wind picks up.

There is more that I can share about other key celestial aspects of support that tomorrow’s Full Moon and Partial Lunar Eclipse holds. Such as the cooperative semi-square to Saturn in Aquarius, where the energies of maturity and responsibility for all of humanity abide and, with a little connection and effort on our parts, can be embraced and expressed. Or the looser semi-square to Jupiter in Capricorn, where if we’re wise enough, we can expand our perspectives and consciousness. Or the cooperative trine to Chiron in Aries where we’re encouraged to heal our wounds in order to survive as a species. Or how Ceres in Pisces shows us how to nourish ourselves by surrendering to the eternal flow of life. Or how Neptune is in its element in Pisces, where we are each held in the sacredness and light of life, as spiritual beings sharing human experiences.

In this moment, though, I want to pause. I want to breathe. I want to let my tears fall with the light of the day as the rising moon’s silver light falls upon my back and casts my shadow upon the curve of the hillside beneath me.

I want to send my heart’s love around our planet Earth, this sacred and sublime home of ours. For the highest good of all relations.

With great love and blessings, always.
Always love.

Invoking Scorpio’s Full Moonlight to Cleanse our Collective Heart ~

The Full Moon in Scorpio casts its light on the shadowy places where the inner workings of our subconscious psyches work their spells of creation. This one, that peaks at 4:45 am MDT on May 7, 2020 reflects an impressive amount of light from the Sun, Mercury and Uranus in Taurus and begs us to examine what it is that we’re constructing now. Scorpio’s ruling planet, Pluto, takes us deeper into this journey of discovery as it recently went retrograde and will remain so through early October of 2020.

If we dare to explore our deepest desires and find ourselves wanting more, what are we yearning for? If we sit long enough in the space of uncertainty, will peace prevail?

For some, this is a time of simplification. It’s a time to cut away what is superfluous and cultivate and appreciate what truly matters. For others, the dichotomy of what we have and what we want feels impossible to resolve. If we’re honest, we’ll admit that we can feel both of these extremes almost simultaneously.

This is the gift and the challenge of polarities. In astrology, the way forward is always shown when we come to the center. When we stand firmly in the middle ground of both Scorpio and Taurus, we allow the creative life-sustaining power of unconditional love to fill our beings and fuel our choices with passion. For ourselves first, and then naturally and organically for others. In this hallowed space, we know that each one of us is doing our own work on our own path while also contributing to the good of the world.

When we cut through the noise and drop the façade of control, living in integrity becomes clear and simple, whether it’s dawn or midnight – whether the path we’re on is known or mysterious, or some indescribable place in-between.

As the Moon’s light waxes full this month in Scorpio’s mystery, may its light cleanse the tidal channels of our hearts; may our tears flow as freely as soft rain; and may we embody and express our power as beings of love. For all relations.

With great love, always love.

Learning to share love in the light of Libra’s Full Moon

As tonight’s full moon casts it glorious light upon us, my Libran Soul is drawn to the spaces between us and the thoughts, words, and blessings that we’re filling them with during this pivotal time in our evolutionary history.

There are always a multitude of opportunities to learn more about ourselves and the ways we live our lives, but at this moment, even more are showing up. Personally, I’m blessed to have access to the digital world, where all kinds of free courses and presentations call me to show up. Yale University is helping  me rekindle my early studies in psychology with their free Coursera course on the Science of Well Being. Seeing Martin Seligman, the father of the positive psychology movement, on global stages and confirming that my character strengths are exactly as I would have guessed, is affirming and uplifting for my mind, body and soul.

Being reminded to practice my strengths daily because positive results
bring more of the same is an extra bonus.

Tuning in daily to Oprah’s and Deepak’s meditation series on Hope grounds me into the fertile soil of ancient truths. Taking tabata breaks with spicy beings such as Maria Horstmann with Be Fab Be You spikes my days with energy. Tuning in to Dr. Ritamarie’s masterful understanding of nutrition on her webinars inspires me to create and consume more green foods. Watching Dr. James in his treehouse gives me a morning spiritual elixir shot.

Meanwhile, thanks to Fender, my partner in life is learning to play the blues on his acoustic guitar. Hearing his tentative chords stirs me to finally take my seat at our ever-patient piano and resume lessons that were undertaken in what feels like another lifetime.

Venus rules Taurus and Libra. In Taurus, we’re invited to attract what we value in order to build form and structure. We focus our attention on self-worth and personal integrity. In Libra, we move into the social realm of life where we dare to step outside of ourselves and see our reflections in the other.

In the spaces between us, we become aware of our innate need
to learn and to love, and we reflect
the Divine because we recognize the value of others.

As positive psychology has known for years, focusing on our strengths always brings more of the same. As tonight’s Full Moon bathes us in her light, may we reflect it back to each other and let what we’re learning and have learned about love harmonize the space in-between.

With great gratitude and love, always.

Reveling in the everyday wisdom of Virgo’s Full Moon ~

As I ground into today’s Full Moon in earthy Virgo, I revel in our efforts and the way that no matter what happens, healing, connection, love and service triumph.

The orb of illumination cast by Virgo’s Moon at 11:48 am MDT today shines upon our accomplishments and calls us to celebrate the way that we care for ourselves and each other every day.

It creates strong cooperative trine aspects to several planetary bodies in Capricorn, including Mars, Pallas Athena, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto, along with the asteroid Vesta in Taurus. These connections invite us to take stock of and ground into the changes we’ve initiated and/or completed lately. Especially those that involved turning over old issues, patterns, and actions that no longer serve our daily lives and expanding consciousness.

Venus also partners with Uranus in Taurus today, amplifying the power of choosing love, which is the most powerful source of energy on Earth and the driving force of the law of attraction.

Like the mountains on our planet, trines in the element of earth inspire us to strive for what is possible and to do the work that’s required to get there. The valleys on the way are part of the climb toward higher vantage points and Virgo reminds us that they are as important as the peaks.

Virgo’s Full Moon also shines upon the Sun’s partnership with Neptune in Pisces, and invites us to celebrate what we’ve surrendered. It’s a perfect time to acknowledge the blessings that come from forgiveness and to trust ourselves and our journey.

Here’s to seeing ourselves in others and appreciating that we’re truly one masterful expression of something greater than ourselves.

With deep and wide appreciation and love, always,
~ Christina

2020 ~ Breathing into the Mystery

This new decade beckons us to love what is, even as we transform our attachments to it and trust the process of our expansion and growth. We’re steeped in a time when the old ways of living are dying to what wants to be born, and the year’s first Penumbral Lunar Eclipse arrives on January 10th at 19 degrees Cancer to help us make these revolutionary – and evolutionary – shifts. Its maximum point is at 12:11 pm MST, just before the Full Moon peaks ten minutes later, at 20 degrees Cancer at 12:21 pm MST. As Pluto and Saturn come closer together and conjoin in Capricorn during this Lunar Eclipse in January, we are given the opportunity to encounter what happens when Mystery meets Reality.

When Pluto and Saturn meet in the sky, we are gifted with all that is possible.

At first, they glance furtively at each other, gauging their power and positions. Each of them feels secure in their stance and possesses a sense of pride in their sphere of influence. Saturn is the master of time, boundaries, and wisdom, and Pluto is the master of transformation, death, and rebirth; both are powerful in their own right.

They chance a longer, measured glance at each other and something else entirely emerges. A decision is made and they edge closer to each other while a vague sense of familiarity encircles them. The field of energy around and between them shimmers and flexes. It weaves between them, grows around them, and places them in uncharted territory. In this shared space, each of them feels stronger and more potent. Their understanding of themselves and their roles in the Celestial Universe morphs into something infinite and indefinable.

When Mystery and Reality dance together, everything is possible. When we breathe into the presence of what is, time, as we know it, ceases to exist. Awe, love, and appreciation seep into our awareness and our understanding of our place in the Celestial Universe shimmers and flexes.

If what we’ve built up until now in our personal lives and on a global scale isn’t working, we can call upon abundant celestial support to make positive changes this year. By first being honest about our beliefs and emotions concerning what we’re being called to restructure, we clear the way forward so we can engage in tangible, compassionate action steps.

Capricorn’s placement in our personal natal chart can guide us to where we need to evaluate our lives and release old ways of thinking, being, and living. Cancer’s presence shows us how to nurture ourselves through the challenges of embarking on this courageous journey.

This year, as we courageously step into the Celestial Universal field of possibility, may we glance at what is real and see the mysterious.

May we let curiosity bring us closer to each other and discover that our proximity makes us stronger.

May we be daring enough to hold the space for what is dying to do so.

And, when we’re steeped in infinite moments of awakened willingness and
authentic appreciation, may we welcome what is on its way.

With a deep and wide open heart, and infinite appreciation for what is, and all relations,
~ Christina

Gemini’s Full Moon ~ Starting the conversation

This month’s Full Moon in Gemini will call to us at 10:12 pm MST on December 11, 2019.

Ever curious, Gemini represents the perpetual student while Sagittarius symbolizes the teacher. This Full Moon may well bring answers to our questions if we are open-minded and courageous enough to ask them.

A T-square from the Full Moon in Gemini and the Sun in Sagittarius to Neptune in Pisces underscores the need for being open and willing to trust the guidance that we receive. It also encourages surrendering control and/or attachment to a certain outcome.

Gemini’s Full Moon also makes three inconjunctions to Venus, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn that need our attention. Unlike conjunctions where planets or luminaries partner with each other for mutual purposes, inconjunctions show planetary energies that don’t work together.

Imagine different relatives at the family table who won’t talk to each other – sometimes they need a guiding force to encourage amicable interaction. With some focus and willingness on our parts, this Full Moon in Gemini could spark the critical conversation we’ve been waiting for.

Capricorn has to do with maturity, wisdom, and responsibility. It represents the outer limits of our current evolutionary understanding. The Saturn, Venus, and Pluto stellium in Capricorn highlights boundaries and rights, values and love, personal and creative power respectively. Thanks to Capricorn, we are being shown our limits in each of these areas.

Another stellium in Capricorn (Jupiter, the South Lunar Node, and Ceres) underscores the importance of making the effort to show up and ask the tough questions.

  • What are the limits upon which our lives are built?
  • Are we content to continue to live within these boundaries? Or, is there more waiting for us?
  • What is possible when we suspend limiting, conditioned beliefs?
  • Who are we when we expand our beliefs about our power to co-create ourselves and what we experience?
  • What if we acknowledged doubt, regret, and/or blame about choices we’ve made on the way here and gave them a place at the table?
  • What if we agreed that we all bring something to our collective experience and decided that we wanted to contribute something more loving?

Here’s to continuing the conversation and stretching our limits of possibility…under the light of the Full Moon.

In 10 short days, on December 21, 2019, Winter Solstice will expand the lineup of Capricorn light in our skies and lives, and on December 25, 2019, the Capricorn New Moon and Solar Eclipse offer another fresh start. May we all take our places at the table and embrace the way forward with our collective heart.

With blessings, always,
~ Christina

p.s. December’s Advent Calendar of Inspiration from Nature and Souls that have blessed our Earth with their light continues to grow below this post. I hope that you enjoy breathing in the beauty that surrounds us on this globe that we are honored to call home.
