Cancer’s New Moon Cycle Births the Eclipse Season ~

July brings powerful gifts with two eclipses in the Cancer/Capricorn axis. The first one, a Total Solar Eclipse, occurs at 9° and 10° Cancer. It begins on the morning of the Cancer New Moon on July 2nd at 10:55 am MDT, reaches totality at 1:22 pm MDT (just after the New Moon at 1:16 pm MDT) and ends at 3:50 pm MDT.
It will be visible in South America and the Pacific.

The New Moon in Cancer on July 2nd is pregnant with possibilities for growth and rebirth, and this first Total Solar Eclipse of the year maximizes its potential. Its proximity to the North Node in Cancer and its opposition to Saturn and the South Node in Capricorn holds the urgency that is felt before emerging into a new life.

If we’ve responded to the energies of the lunar nodal axis in Cancer/Capricorn lately, we’ve clarified our needs and worked toward meeting them by engaging in radical self-care and love. If we’ve ignored this impulse, we could be caught in a cycle of expectation and blame where we look to others or the world around us to fill our soul needs and/or wounds. Avoiding personal responsibility and feeding old patterns of victim thinking is exactly what this eclipse cycle is inviting us to release and transform.

Mars joins Mercury in fiery Leo during this Cancer New Moon/Total Solar Eclipse. Mercury in Leo encourage us to shine a light on thoughts that we want to make tangible in our lives, while Mars in Leo wants to illuminate the desires in our hearts. Let’s direct the light to uplifting thoughts and reach out for what and who we love.

Mercury goes retrograde in Leo on the 7thof July, and will revisit Cancer before it goes direct at the month’s end. Remembering to cultivate the thoughts that nurture and heal will help us through this period of growth and expansion. The ability to respond rather than react cannot be overvalued.

The second eclipse in this cycle, a Partial Lunar Eclipse, occurs at 22°- 24° Capricorn on the afternoon of the Full Moon on July 16, 2019. It begins at 12:43 pm MDT,reaches its maximum at 3:30 pm, and ends at 6:17 MDT that evening. It will be visible over most of Europe, most of Asia, Australia, Africa, South/East North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Antarctica.

As the Moon waxes full in Capricorn, this Partial Lunar Eclipse is packed with Pluto’s insistence that we excavate and transform our collective consciousness. To this end, we can explore what thoughts and energy we’re bringing to our days, our interactions with each other, and the world. Intentions have infinite organizing power – and this eclipse can bring instant feedback on ours. Choosing them wisely is highly recommended.

~ Are we empowered as co-creators of our existence? Or, are we victims of something that is seemingly outside of our control?

~ How can we shift our thoughts/energies/actions to contribute to a brighter world?

Eclipse cycles always bring opportunities to wipe away what no longer serves us and embrace a fresh start. This one is ripe with potential to birth a fluid new way of understanding ourselves and our place in the greater family of living, growing beings of which we’re a part.

May we love ourselves and each other along the way, and bless our shared journey with joy.

With abundant blessings and appreciation, always,
~ Christina

Expanding into the Light of the Full Moon in Sagittarius ~

The Gemini New Moon cycle that we’re currently in culminates in the fullness of 25° Sagittarius on Monday June 17th, 2019 at 2:31 am MDT, during the dark hours of the morning. She’s joining Jupiter on the way so we’re likely already feeling the pull to become more of who we want to be.

Later on Monday morning at 9:13 am MDT, the Moon will shift into Capricorn and show us how far we’ve come…or how far we have yet to go!

Since the universal law of attraction holds that what we focus on expands, this Gemini Moon cycle that began on June 3rd inspired me to celebrate and appreciate the blessings that surround me everyday. The abundance of beauty and magic in the natural world is boundless and with my attention and appreciation, its energy expands my Soul well beyond what I can see and touch. To glimpse some of these moments of inspiration from Nature and to get my blogpost updates, see my Facebook page here. If you’re feeling inspired to like the page, know that it’s appreciated!

Mercury, Mars and the South Lunar Node are currently in Cancer, inviting us to feel into the flow of a stream of heart-centered consciousness. They oppose Saturn, Pluto, and the North Lunar Node in Capricorn showing us the limits of our evolution.

Nurturing ourselves with authenticity and absolute love brings us to the center of the polarity of Cancer and Capricorn and allows us to grow into our potential as human beings.

Dropping into our hearts allows us to feed the seeds of possibility
that we’ve planted for eons.

We can think of all things in Cancer as infantile and needing care and attention. If we look to Nature for inspiration now in the west, we’ll see new babies of various species emerging on wobbly legs and untested wings making their way forward into the world.

Like them, we all have a universal need for unconditional love inside of us and crave support to explore the world without fear. Imagine that we cared for ourselves in the same way that we’re instinctively driven to care for those newly born.

What tenderness would appear and fill our moments?
What growth would we experience?
How much expansion would we know?

If Cancer is infancy, Capricorn is maturity, wisdom, and experience. It represents the pinnacle of achievement that comes from taking personal responsibility for our lives and the world that we are co-creating. When we express the best of both of these energy signatures, we become exponentially powerful.

Nothing less than this is being asked of us now:
to empower, express, and embrace new versions of ourselves
and the world that we share with all sentient beings.

May we expand together and enjoy the journey
to a brighter expression of love, life, and joy…for all relations.

With overflowing appreciation and blessings, always,

Christina ~

Opening to Spring Equinox and the Full Moon in Libra ~

The Sun glares at zero degrees Aries and embraces Chiron at one degree Aries as the wheel turns and we welcome the Vernal Equinox at 3:58 pm MDT today, March 20, 2019.

The Sun and Chiron conjunction forms a semi-sextile to Uranus at zero degrees Taurus, creating a low-level of tension that could build as the Moon grows full tonight, so we’re urged to consider whether or not our desires are aligned with our deepest values.
The Full Moon at zero degrees Libra, at 7:43 pm MDT, accentuates any potential gap between our desires and our values, and asks:

~ What and/or whom do we love?

~ What and/or whom calls out for healing?

~ How can we cultivate beauty, love, and all things Venusian as we exert our reach for what we desire?

~ How can we strike a point of balance and harmony between ourselves and others?

~ Where does the power to co-create our world originate?

These questions are highlighted by several other aspects in the charts of the Vernal Equinox and tonight’s Full Moon in Libra –

  • Mars and Venus square each other in fixed signs of Taurus and Aquarius, respectively. Think masculine/feminine, expression/reception, warrior/lover, and bridge the gap between them.
  • Mar in Taurus is inconjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius, so we may let our primal needs take precedent over our higher ones. Think stubborn obsession over open-mindedness and possibility thinking. The potential for making practical progress toward our goals exists, but the way forward will be infinitely easier if we align our reach with our true callings and allow for our higher truths to present themselves.
  • Another semi-sextile creates a sense of uneasiness between Venus in Aquarius and Pluto in Capricorn. Venus in Aquarius brings the focus of our love to a higher, more impersonal and universal level, which is where Pluto exerts its transformative influence. If we attempt to harness the power of Pluto for personal gain it’s likely to backfire, and it is time to clear old wounds, not create more pain.
  • The conjunction of Retrograde Mercury and Neptune in Pisces may blur things a bit, but it also offers a solution in surrendering the old. Think forgiveness, dissolution, and release. A massive bounty of grace awaits those who surrender control and embrace acceptance as we undergo this powerful transition in the evolution of our consciousness.

As I write this on the east coast of the US, I can feel Spring’s pull beneath the surface of the buds on the branches of the cherry trees.

Each rising Sun calls us to open just a little more, to relax into the warmth and promise of a new day, to trust the cycles of life…and ourselves.

Here’s to shedding the layers of the past and opening to the gifts of Spring ~

With abundant blessings and hope, always,
~ Christina

Grounding into February’s Full Moon in Virgo

Celestial bodies continue to encourage us to evolve with more shifts this month…

Chiron moves into Aries on Monday the 18th, at 2:10 am MST, calling forth our courage. Surrendering our wounds while Chiron was in Pisces allows for our inspired expression now.

The Sun slips from Aquarius to Pisces that same afternoon at 4:04 pm MST. Pisces holds artistry, unity, and mastery in a chamber of mystery. Tapping into our dreamscapes enriches our journey on both sides of the veil. The capacity for healing to occur in our dreams
is heightened now, and great power can be found when we intentionally engage it.

Meanwhile, the Moon waxes toward fullness and will rise at 8:53 am MST on Tuesday, February 19th, at zero degrees of Virgo. It forms an inconjunction to Chiron at zero degrees Aries, and invites us to heal old, lingering wounds around self-confidence. It trines both Uranus at 29° Aries and Mars at 3° Taurus, connecting 2 elements of earth and fire, and 3 modes of operation: mutable Virgo, cardinal Aries, and fixed Taurus.

Grounding into Earth is important now. Virgo’s Full Moon shines a light on what works and what does not. It loves efficiency, order, logic, process, and routine. It rules the areas of our lives that are conscious, earthly, and health-oriented. While Pisces, whose sunlight it reflects now, loves poetry, flow, intuition, being, and mystery. It rules the areas of our lives that are unconscious, artistic, and spiritual.

By bringing Spirit down to Earth through our thoughts, words, and actions everyday, we demonstrate the powerful perfection of the Pisces/Virgo energies. February’s Full Moon in Virgo spotlights the dreams that we’re manifesting. Do we like what we’ve created enough to celebrate it? Do we move through our days consciously? Gratefully? Gracefully?

A recent winter retreat found me basking in the bits of sunshine splashed on these sacred mountains where the Ute Indians once dwelled in peace. Walking by the flowing river by day, soaking in the healing mineral springs by night, seeing eagles, coyotes, a flock of bluebirds, families of deer, and more crows than I could count, I was reminded how easy healing is
when I’m present, and how generous the natural world is with its gifts of beauty and grace.

One of my walks led me to a medicine wheel where a prayer cairn holds a magnificent bronze eagle that was dedicated to Dennis Weaver upon his transition to the Great Mystery. People who visit this memorial park are invited to place prayer cairns upon and around the wheel. Serenity enveloped me as I entered the space, and like the eagle, my intentions rode a thermal wave of energy skyward. It’s a quiet place of power, this park, where humans and nature coexist peacefully in harmony and hope. February’s Full Moon in Virgo will find me celebrating this state of grace ~ where our co-creation reflects the mystery and the mastery of life perfectly.

Blessings, Always, For All Relations ~

Embracing the Spirit of January’s Total Lunar Eclipse ~

Tonight’s Full Moon is expanding in the last half of Cancer’s realm now. It’s fast approaching the north lunar node and will tow it along as it waxes full and is totally eclipsed, in the beginning degrees of Leo tonight.

I sat to write this post yesterday afternoon, at the exact moment that the Moon opposed Saturn in Capricorn and created a T-square to Mars in Aries. It got my attention. Since all I’ve been wanting to do lately is to practice radical self-care, I followed my instinct and did that instead. This morning finds me rested and able to share my musings on how to flow with the shifting tides of the Moon’s energy field.

Cancer is the sign that the Moon governs. Imagine a caring nanny watching over her children as they learn to become who they are meant to be. The Moon does this for us, too, when we let her into our hearts and follow her lead from there.

Tuning into the omniscient guidance system of our emotional bodies not only smooths out the bumps on the road, but also elevates the journey. Mary Oliver, the beloved, brilliant soul who left this earthly realm earlier this week echoed the Moon’s truth in her poem, Wild Geese ~ “…You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.”

When we are courageous enough to take deep breaths, laugh with our little ones, cry over losses, and give shelter to ourselves when we’re in shadowy places, we are heeding and flowing with the wisdom of the Moon. She never misguides us. Instead, like the loving governess who has our highest growth and development in mind, she shows us the way forward.

Tonight, the way forward holds the promise of light.

As the Moon beams full in Leo, the role of governing our emotional bodies is given to the Sun, who will eclipse it and assist us in severing ties to that which limits our expansion.

Eclipses always offer a blank page for us to fill. What we splash upon it is up to us. Tears, Laughter, Love, Kindness, Presence, Courage, Fear, Trust…the keywords for Leo are “I will.”

What will we surrender?

What will we bring forward into the light?

Who are we willing to be?

Are we willing to shine?

When we express our highest will, we come to the center of the Leo/Aquarius plane and serve the whole of us, our greater family, where we shine like the Sun and love like the Moon.

Meanwhile, the Moon’s willingness to pull the North Node in Cancer along with it helps us to flow with the wonderfully watery trine to Ceres in Scorpio, where rebirth gestates, and Chiron in Pisces, where impeccable intuition, knowing, and healing awaits.

Here’s to splashing our truest, most beautiful selves all over the page ~ in all of our crazy colors and radiant light…bright or dappled as it may be.

With great love and blessings, always ~

Where Power and Love Unite ~ Full Moon in Taurus 2018

The moon waxes full on Wednesday, October 24th, 2018 at 10:45 am MDT. At one degree Taurus, the Moon joins Retrograde (Rx) Uranus and opposes the Sun and Rx Venus in Scorpio. Their opposition forms a Fixed Cross with the lunar nodes in Leo and Aquarius.

This cosmic event spotlights what we love and value and urges us to look deeper
at how we attract and express it.

It also brings up the question:

Does what we’re attracting sustain our collective tomorrow?

Uranus is a transpersonal planet with an innovative energy signature from the future; it’s concerned with the collective. In grounded, earthy Taurus, it asks much more of us. No longer content to settle for old, stagnant ways of living, we must stretch into new territory and build what is viable for the future.  Think of making updates that benefit the majority.

Changes can come in sudden flashes of insight or in the form of unexpected disruptions.
When Uranus goes retrograde, we’re given the chance to see our reality from a wider perspective. If we’re willing, we can drop into the space between worlds and find ways to embrace changes that benefit the whole of humanity.

Change is inevitable. Our best option is to let go of what is archaic
and no longer serves our evolution, and then to allow the future
to unfold
and grace our lives.

Venus is a very personal planet that helps us draw that which we love to us. When retrograde, we are invited to explore and know real love. The kind that lives deep in our hearts and exists beyond the constructs of love that we were taught to believe. If we’re open enough, this period offers a window through which we can begin to see ourselves with absolute love.

The journey to the center is called for in any opposition, and this Full Moon is no exception. We are aiming for the balance of love and power – with a spark of inspiration and help from – and for – our future.

When we take stock of what we love and value and are willing to inspire and implement the changes that we’re shown, we’ll know the infinite, omnipotent, and true nature of love.

We may notice emotional swings and/or a sense of restlessness with this Moon’s energies, especially if there are fixed patterns or habits that we’re working on transforming. Fixed crosses compel us to find ways to release pent-up, stuck emotions. Cultivating a keen sense of self-awareness and expressing ourselves in creative ways can help us move through challenges.

If we can tap into and embrace what our hearts know, we will serve not only ourselves, but others as well, and we’ll flow with the powerful currents of Scorpio and Taurus. Otherwise, we can be tossed about in what feels like a storm.

In the space in-between worlds, in the space in-between ourselves and our fellow sentient beings, in the space in-between breaths and moments, the highest truth of love, in all of its resplendent power and light, waits for our embrace.

A few questions to ponder in the space in-between…under the light of the moon, perhaps.

  • Are we nurturing beauty and love? Are we open to receiving the same?
  • Are we letting go of what is out of alignment with our sense of peace?
  • Does what we’re attracting and/or creating sustain our inner sense of well-being?
  • Does what we’re drawing to us create a better, expansive tomorrow?
  • How can we experience more heart and less doubt? More hope and less despair?

Here’s to aligning with the flow of love and power in unique ways that bring all of us abundant peace, beauty, joy, and light ~

Blessings, always ~

Embracing Libra’s Light ~ Autumn Equinox 2018

Hello Libra!

Autumn Equinox arrives in the west just after the quintessential time of Libra, when the Sun gives way to night by softening the cobalt sky with a sigh of lavender, rose, and golden love.

At 7:54 pm MDT, on Saturday, September 22, 2018, we’ll move from the arena of earthy, practical Virgo into the realm of airy, cooperative Libra, where our focus on ourselves expands to include others. Imagine less analysis and effort and more partnership and connection.

Can we bask in this space for a blissful moment in time? Can we place ourselves in the beauty of knowing that all is working out for us? Can we trust that we are being guided and supported on this Earthwalk and that we have absolutely everything that we need? That, as
co-creative beings on this planet, the Universe holds our highest visions as its own,
so we can expand together?

Transition is the theme and the gift of the season. Days shift into evenings. Autumn brings us from Summer to Winter. Life goes inward, to rest, to replenish, and renew.

Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius bless the season. Cardinal Air, Fixed Water, and Mutable Fire help us cultivate peace, transform, and expand.

As I write this, on the World day of Peace, I journey into the present moment of perfection. It’s always here, waiting for us to meet it. Now, as a gentle breeze sings through the fir trees, their branches busy with flitting chickadees and nuthatches, the bending aspen trees surrender their golden leaves to the forest floor, and all is well. Here. Now.

Cardinal signs (Libra, Aries, Capricorn, Cancer) call for expression and action. Fixed signs (Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, Taurus) have a drawing power – they help us attract and receive.

The Sun and Mercury in Libra oppose Chiron in Aries, and their resulting T-square to Saturn in Capricorn emphasizes the need for healing around authority and boundaries – especially in terms of our bodies, our rights to ownership and survival, and our longing for balanced power.

At the same time, a fixed T-square between Rx (retrograde) Uranus opposite Venus in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius continues to spice things up. This T-square turns into a cross thanks to a conjunction between Mars and the South Lunar Node in Aquarius and the North Lunar Node in Leo. Remodeling and shaking up our value systems and the way we reach out to meet and express our needs comes into play. If there is discord between what we love and how we get or receive it, we can expect it to show up.

T-squares give us the opportunity – and the challenge – to notice what is out of balance and to restore harmony. If we know that something is calling our attention, we’re less likely to trip over it or to be thrown off-center.

In two days, on Monday, September 24th, the Moon will wax full in Aries at 8:53 pm MDT. The cardinal T-square mentioned above will be heightened by the Moon’s fullness in the warrior-filled energy field of Mars.

When self-preservation (Aries) and harmony with others (Libra) are at either end of the spectrum, peace can be found in the middle where an understanding and acceptance of our interconnection abides.

Finding beauty in the moment can help temper any flare-ups that occur around and/or within us. Remembering that we can always choose how we respond to events can help – especially where Uranus is involved. To this end, cultivating inner peace is paramount. Breathe, ground, get out in nature and go into your heart ~ however and wherever
peace lives for you – go there, be that.

To top off the month, Pluto goes direct in Capricorn on September 30th. It’s time to completely reclaim our newfound and transformed relationship to personal and collective authority and power.

From a summer when 7 planets or asteroids were retrograde, we now enter early fall with only three slowing down – Neptune, Uranus, and Chiron (at least until Venus retrogrades in early October). Still, I am hearing from clients and friends that there remains a sense of delay or holding back – a lack of forward momentum, and to some degree, a sense of futility.

Fall is a time of going inward, so maybe that is part of it. Perhaps, like the Earth in the west, we are individually and collectively retreating to gather our strength. Maybe, just maybe, all is well. Here. Now.

With abundant blessings and beauty, always
~ Christina

Full Moon in Pisces and its blessing of a Kite ~

This month’s Full Moon will dawn on us in the west at 5:56 am MDT, on August 26th, 2018 at 3 degrees Pisces ~ encouraging us to feel, surrender, trust, and flow.

A GRAND Earth trine is formed by the Sun in Virgo, Saturn in Capricorn, and Uranus in Taurus. As the Full Moon opposes the Sun, it also sextiles both Saturn and Uranus, forming a Kite.

We can think of the Kite giving the Earth Trine a lift, helping us to focus on the energy that the Trine inspires and put it to practical use.

The Focal point in this Kite is the Sun at 3 degrees Virgo – the Moon at 3 degrees Pisces that opposes it offers a reference point so that we can see the clear purpose of the Sun’s expression. The two sextiles from the Moon to Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus offer support in activating the energy of the trine.

The Sun at 3 degrees Virgo shows us the Sabian Symbol of Two Guardian Angels Bringing us Protection. Virgo is a healing sign, where we are driven to take the necessary steps to bring something to fruition, to make things function, to manifest the mastery that is funneled through the Piscean energy on the other side of its axis.

This Sabian Symbol reminds us to seek and trust the Higher Guidance
that always surrounds us.

The Full Moon at 3 degrees Pisces gives us the Sabian Symbol of A Petrified Forest, An Eternal Record of a Life Lived Long Ago. It speaks of the legacy that we leave behind, whether in the form of pictures, stories, diaries, art, or memories. It helps us conjure records carved in stone/Earth. This Moon calls us to consider our history and its impact on our present experience. What are we carrying from our past? Are we burdened or encouraged by it?
What did we let go of that we would be better off retrieving and cherishing?

Using the Moon’s influence and the Kite formation to make the most of the Earth Trine, we can connect with our value systems and make adjustments in our lives that nourish our hearts and surround us with beauty and love (Uranus in Taurus).

At the same time, we can reclaim our authority to form and build new boundaries that  allow the rivers of our lives to flow with more ease and grace (Saturn in Capricorn). Releasing  structures that were born out of expectation or obligation and surrendering to the flow of our highest truths allows us to stretch into lives that we love and makes space for possibilities (Saturn in Capricorn).

As we surrender to making the shifts that our higher guidance systems suggest, the natural outcome is that we heal old wounds, find new solutions to old problems, and literally walk our Spirit’s perfection forward with grace and light (Sun in Virgo).

Here’s to surrendering to the flow of higher currents and stepping more fully into our truths, our beauty, and our souls.
May we soar like kites on the winds of change.

With blessings, always,
~ Christina

Aligning with our noble purpose ~ July’s Lunar Eclipse

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on July 27, 2018 highlights the Aquarius/Leo axis. The Full Moon, Retrograde (Rx) Mars, and the South Node in Aquarius are opposed to the Sun in Leo, and their polarity creates a T-square to Uranus in Taurus.

If there ever was a time to align with our noble purpose, this is it.

Ruled by the Sun, Leo is Life. It is Spirit’s form manifested in our distinct creative expression. It gives us confidence, courage, and will.

Ruled by Uranus, Aquarius represents our higher collective will that aims to serve the greater good. It inspires us to stretch beyond our limited views and personal desires to support all of life, and the future.

When challenges are revealed in astrology, we look to the gifts to help us through them. Tomorrow, as we continue to shake up our routines that aren’t loyal to our truest values via the T-square, we can look to four key trines for support.

In this case, gifts arrive in Water, Earth, and Fire trines involving the outer planets and the closer personal ones.

We can breathe into our Hearts, the Earth, and Spirit for inspiration and guidance.

  • Our hearts can find solace in the watery connection between Jupiter in Scorpio and Rx Neptune in Pisces. Feeling into the depths of truth and wisdom is the guiding force here. Jupiter in Scorpio dives deep and Rx Neptune Pisces elevates the search for the truth to the realm of the intuitive heart.
  • As Uranus in earthy Taurus aligns with Rx Saturn in earthy Capricorn we’re invited to ground into our deepest values as we continue to release situations, possessions, and/or relationships that limit us. Rx Saturn in Capricorn has been helping us create new boundaries that work – Uranus in Taurus yearns to help us stretch those boundaries. This Capricorn/Taurus trine reminds us to do the work. If the goal, the process, and the outcome are grounded in love, success is assured – and we all win.
  • Rx Pluto provides another grounded current to Venus in Virgo. As we transform systems built on outworn, conditioned beliefs and reclaim our authority to create lives we love, what are the processes and routines that nurture and heal us? What works? What heals? In the world of Venus in Virgo, they are one and the same: What works heals us and what heals us works.
  • Finally, the Sun in Leo sparks a fiery inspiring current of healing to Rx Chiron in Aries, igniting confidence that will get us through anything. Healing our perceptions of ourselves as wounded beings is illuminated ~ and if we engage the playful nature of Leo, we can see and trust the way forward with clarity and excitement.
    This trine says, “Lighten Up!”

If we were to sit with our Master/s – our Highest Guide/s – our Wisest Manifestations of our Souls, however that looks to us ~ whether it’s a reflection of our Highest Selves, a Team of Supporters or Guardians, a band of Angels or Archangels, one omnipotent and omniscient Being, or many such Beings ~ How would we approach the space? What would it feel like? What would we share? What would we receive?

In the midst of this cycle of eclipses,
I invite us to go there
with all our hearts,
and find out…

With abundant blessings and love ~ always,

Christina

p.s. with all of the hype out there about Rx Mercury in Leo, I simply want to say thank you to the Messenger planet for helping us pause and reconsider how we express our willfulness. 😉

Cosmic Rx ~ Harnessing the healing qualities of Retrograde Mars ~

Mars, the planet of desire and how we reach out for what we want, just began its retrograde journey in the early degrees of Aquarius. It will continue moving against its normal path through the upcoming summer eclipse season and dip back into the end degrees of Capricorn before it goes direct on August 27th.

The fiery, warrior-like planet of action helps us reach out for what we want and drives our need to express ourselves. It brings up what motivates us.

If our desires are approached consciously, Mars can help us channel great strength and focus to manifest our goals. If we’re unconsciously driven by unnamed or unclear desires, we can experience frustration, obstacles, and turmoil.

When any planet goes retrograde, we’re invited to step deeper into the energy signature of that planet. Here, we’re encouraged to dive into our motives:

  • What do we want?
  • Why do we want it?
  • How can we get it?

Mars in Aquarius wants to change, to evolve, and to know the feeling of release from restriction – not only for ourselves personally, but for the collective. Aquarius encompasses concern for humanity, so the impetus to examine our desires brings us to the arena of whether or not manifesting them serves the whole of us.

If we’re feeling boxed in, blocked, or limited in exercising our power – and if we’re honest, who among us isn’t feeling this way as lines are drawn daily around personal and global freedoms?retrograde Mars asks us to stop and see if our choices reflect our truest desires.

Then, we’re asked to take another step and consider how our actions to get what we want affect those around us.

The more harmonious we are with our highest, truest desires – those that come from our hearts – the greater positive effect we’ll have on each other and our world. As it turns around, Mars remains in opposition to Venus, the planet that rules what we love, so striking the balance here is the fastest way to harmony and peace.

The Moon is waxing as I write this; she’ll reach her fullness in Capricorn tomorrow night, June 27th, at 10:53 pm MDT, when she joins Saturn in its retrograde position. Together, they will form a trine to Uranus in Taurus, the planet of change.

Grounding into this flow of earthy energy could help us find practical solutions – if we’re willing to shift our outmoded ways of thinking and avoid habitual reactions. That’s critical, because the opposition of Mars and Venus creates a T-square to Jupiter retrograde in Scorpio and we may well find ourselves tripping over old ruts in our paths, where our thoughts are automatic, reactive, and repetitive.

So…what are the remedies? What can we do to tap into and receive the gifts that surround us?

  • Stop. (with other planets, I’d say pause, but Mars calls for a full stop)
  • Breathe.
  • Reflect.
  • Ground.
  • Create space to entertain new and inventive approaches.
  • Then – once we’re clear – move in the direction of the energy that shows up, with open mind/heart connections.

Staying with any one of these actions for as long as we need to is okay – there is really no rush. In fact, rushing right now is to court chaos…and who wants that?

With blessings of peace, always
~ Christina
